Frequently Asked Questions

At Penmerryl Farm, we prioritize transparency and accountability. We want you to feel confident in our practices, which is why we’ve outlined our company policies below. These policies serve as our commitment to providing you with the best possible experience. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our us through our Contact Us page.

We have 3 Golden Rules on the Farm. These are the non-negotiables. Yes, I even used some all-caps. That’s how much we mean this!

1.) If you are mounted on a horse or motorcycle on this property, you must have an appropriate helmet on. No exceptions.

2.) No Smoking within 50 Ft of ANY building entrance. This includes the pool area. Do not accidentally set our farm on fire flicking ashes around. Have some common sense and be courteous. Do not leave butts on the ground. Do not dispose of butts in indoor trash cans. Please throw them in one of the trash cans outside.

3.) All guest dogs must be kept on leash AT ALL TIMES on the property. It’s not a request. I don’t care if Cesar Milan himself uses your dog as an example of the greatest of all dog-kind. We can’t pick and choose who has to be on leash. There is no interview process. We’re not willing to risk our animals, wildlife, or guests. Leash up or stay somewhere else. No, remote collars don’t count. I know I sound like kind of a jerk about this. We love dogs, truly, but we have had so many issues that we are on the verge of not allowing dogs anymore. We have had major property damage, fights, and injuries. Days spent trying to clean dog hair out of the pool. Phone calls about injured wildlife that we have to go and euthanize. We are the ones who are in the paddock with panicked horses trying to intercept someone’s dog and prevent injuries because they had no idea their dog would chase a horse. We don’t owe anyone an explanation of why we have our policies. But here it is. We have the leash rule for a reason.

What are your Check-In and Check-out Times?

Check-In Time 04:00 PM | Check-Out Time 11:00 AM

What is your Cancellation Policy / Are reservations refundable?

Payment is required at the time of the reservation. We offer a full refund if you cancel more than 30 days prior to your arrival date. We offer a 50% refund if you cancel between 7 and 30 days prior to your arrival date. There is no refund for cancelations made within 7 days of your arrival date. (We will always offer a full refund if we are able to re-book the canceled accommodation for your original dates.)

Do you have Wi-fi?

Penmerryl Wifi Password: ridethefarm

We offer free WiFi on the farm to all of our guests, but due to our rural location, we can’t guarantee great speed or reliability.

If you need excellent WiFi during your stay, there are several coffee shops in nearby Staunton that offer a great work space. Cell service seems to be reliable from most carriers.

Can I bring my horse/motorcycle to ride on the farm if I’m not with an event?

Yes! We do allow individuals to use the trails and training areas when they’re available. Please always check in advance if you are coming specifically to ride on the property. If there is an event going on, it may mean that the trails will not be open for use during those dates.

What is the maximum capacity of your event space?

We can comfortably host an event of up to 150 people for an event. We are open to hosting larger events, but it may require special permitting.

Is there parking available for guests?

Parking is included at no charge with any lodge/cabin/RV rental. There is ample parking for the amount of guests for any event we host.

Are you pet friendly?

Most of our lodging is dog friendly (pet fee may apply) and well behaved dogs are welcome. Dogs must stay on leash at all times around the property for the safety of other guests and all the people and animals that call Penmerryl home. We prefer that you not leave your dog(s) unattended during your stay. We can recommend some local options for doggie day care if needed! Blue Barn Daycare and Rainbow Springs Kennels are both great choices in nearby Staunton.

What types of events do you host?

We are entirely flexible and have hosted horse clinics, motorcycle training courses, family reunions, and weddings. Our unique space can cater to almost any event type, and we are happy to discuss whatever you might have in mind!
