Spend the day exploring all the amenities that Penmerryl has to offer. Hike or ride the more than 5 miles of scenic trails and end up at the lake to canoe or fish. See if you can hold on to your pride facing down Ken on the tennis court. Feed the “mini-donks” some carrots, or just veg-out by the pool. How ever your spend your time here, it’s sure to be memorable and fun.
The Lake
Tucked away on a secluded corner of The Farm is our 8 acre lake. Accessible by a dirt road in a vehicle or by way of one of our many hiking trails, the lake offers a quiet spot to fish, boat, picnic, or just hang out and enjoy the wildlife. There is a walking trail that circles the entire lake and offers the best opportunity to see beavers, geese, turtles, deer, and many other local flora and fauna. If you’re lucky, you may even see one of the bald eagles fishing!
*At this time, we are doing some work on the lake area including shore line maintenance and dredging. While still fully accessible to guests, It is not at its best aesthetically. We hope to have it back and better than ever as soon as possible, and apologize for any inconvenience while we make some necessary repairs and improvements. Thank you for your understanding!
Breakfast
Breakfast is served daily in the central room of the lodge, and it’s bound to be a highlight of your stay! Breakfast includes a selection of hot comfort foods, fruit, coffee, juices and a variety of bread and cereals. We typically serve at 8:30am (alternative start times can be arranged in advance for large groups), and offer either buffet style or a plated meal depending on the number of guests. Our breakfast is everything you need to start your day on the farm off right!
*We are happy to accommodate any special dietary needs, though we do request you let us know about them in advance so we can plan the menu accordingly.
The Pool
The beautiful pool anchors the central courtyard. It is a great place to gather with your friends and family or just relax after a day of riding or other outdoor activities. There are two large gazebos located at one end with a gas grill and serving tables, perfect for a poolside BBQ.
The Tavern
Feel free to kick off your boots and sit a spell after a long day of riding. Aptly named, “The Sore Ass Saloon” and designed as a communal hangout, the space is well suited to host individuals, families, or groups alike. Well appointed with bar (BYOB), full kitchen, pool table, big-screen TV (with Dish Network programming) and 8 dining tables with total seating for nearly 40 people. The tavern also works well as a training/media room due to the excellent acoustics and appointed A/V system. The Tavern also houses a full-bath and is an excellent place to start or end your day of camping on the farm.
Stables & Horse Facilities
Penmerryl Farm provides safe and spacious accommodations for our guests’ horses and best of all they are conveniently located just across from the Lodge and Cabins.
WIFI and Internet Access
We offer free WIFI on the farm to all of our guests, but due to our rural location, we can’t guarantee great speed or reliability (it sucks, honestly). Max speeds of 1.1Mbps. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
If you need excellent WiFi during your stay, there are several coffee shops in nearby Staunton that offer a great work space. Cell service seems to be reliable from most carriers.
We are diligently working to be able to provide reliable high-speed internet and are in contact with many vendors for a solution.

We are pleased to offer on-site massage by one of our own! Lydia Pittkin is a certified massage therapist, and she’d love to help you relax and unwind during your stay. Lydia does her best to keep a flexible schedule for guests, so while scheduling in advance is always recommended, she is also willing to accommodate last minute bookings when possible.
